Phoenix Baaitse is a South African actor best known for his role as Tumisho Banzi in the SABC1 soap opera Generations.
Born in Johannesburg and raised in Senaoane in Soweto, Phoenix matriculated from King Edward VII high school in 1994.
He attended the University of the Witwatersrand in 1995, studying film, make-up, directing, movement and acting but left after a year to do a course in advertising and marketing from the AAA school of Advertising.
Although he made his screen debut in 1994 when he presented eight episodes of an SABC1 educational programme called Teleschool Geography, it wasn't until 2012 when he began acting full time.
He began with a role in a commercial for DStv and went on to appear in numerous other commercials for clients including Samsung AFCON, the Tshwane Golf Tournament, Corenza C, NYDA, Encounters Film Festival, KFC and Edgars.
He landed the recurring role of husband Tumisho Banzi in Generations in 2013 and also had guest starring roles in the SABC2 sitcom Majakathata Records, the SABC1 docu-drama series Ngempela, and SABC2 sitcom Ga Re Dumele and the e.tv soapie Scandal!.
Films he has appeared in include Long Way Back Home and Hlupego (Poverty).
He has a brother, two sisters and two daughters and currently resides in Johannesburg. He is multilingual, speaking Tswana, Zulu, Afrikaans and English.
