Andile Gumbi was a South African actor, dancer, singer and model best known for playing the adult Simba, the disillusioned, self-exiled prince who matures into the King of Pride Rock, in Disney's long-running musical The Lion King.
He was best known to television viewers for his starring role as Zweli Ntshangase (Ngubane), Bhekifa's son from his wife who is armed with a Post-Grad Business Degree that he gained in London, having suffered the childhood nightmare of his mother's death, in the Mzansi Magic soap opera isiBaya.
He also had a starring role in the SABC1 drama series Makoti, in 2019.
Andile was hospitalised in Israel (where he was playing the role of King Nebu in Daniel: The Musical) following a heart attack on Tuesday 22 October, 2019.
He died on Friday 25 October, 2019.
