Marlee van der Merwe is a South African singer, actress, dancer, songwriter and fine artist best known for her starring role as Alexia Kriel in the kykNET musical youth drama series Sterlopers.
After studying entertainment technology at Tshwane University of technology for a year, Marlee completed her 3-year diploma in musical theatre at the same institution.
During this period Marlee excelled in various areas and having a natural flair for choreography she was invited to the FNB Dance Umbrella festival in 2004, where her piece - Violence on Violins - was performed.
Another highlight during this period was playing the role of Fastrada in the musical production of Pippin, directed by Johann Swart.
After Marlee graduated she immediately joined the cast of the musical classic Showboat (directed by Janice Honeyman), which toured to Europe several times and also played in South Africa.
Apart from musicals, Marlee has also performed at the Performer theatre, Pretoria, in the production Born in the RSA as a front-liner, and then moved on to the Barnyard Circuit in the production Celtic Rock as a singer and dancer.
She was privileged to play a lead comedy role, Swaan, in Vere, an Afrikaans musical written and directed by Etienne Booysen.
Marlee also performed in Girl Talk 007 at the Sound Stage supper theatre until end 2007 then moved on to Creativentertainment's The Full Monty - The Broadway Musical.
