Bio
Raúl Castillo is an American actor best known for his role as Richie Donado, a barber and Patrick's romantic interest who is working his way up while manning the door at the Mission's Esta Noche, in the comedy-drama television series Looking.
Born and raised on the Texas-Mexico border and based in New York City, Castillo studied theatre at Boston University's School for the Arts before making a name for himself on both stage and screen as an actor and writer.
He made his feature film debut in Amexicano, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. Variety's Ronnie Scheib referred to his performance as "pitch-perfect."
Castillo followed that up with a string of roles in independent films, including Cold Weather, Don't Let Me Drown, My Best Day, The Girl and Bless Me, Ultima, in addition to garnering an honourable mention for performance at AFI Fest 2012 for the Student Academy Award-winning short film Narcocorrido.
His television credits include Blue Bloods, Law & Order and ‘Nurse Jackie.
Castillo is a member of LAByrinth Theater Company in NYC and author of the play Knives and Other Sharp Objects, which premiered in 2009 at the Public Theater.
His theatre acting credits include The Way West (Lark), Fish Men (Goodman Theater), Jesus Hopped the A Train (Barebones Productions), A Lifetime Burning (Primary Stages) and School of the Americas (LAByrinth/Public Theater).
