Bio
Matt McGorry is an American actor best known for his starring role as corrections officer John Bennett, a prison guard and former soldier who is in a secret relationship with Daya, in the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black.
He is also known for his starring role as Asher Millstone, one of Annalise's students who comes from a privileged background, in the legal thriller television series How to Get Away with Murder.
McGorry also has an appearance on TNT's series Public Morals as Mr. Ford, produced by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Television. Other television appearances include a recurring role on One Life To Live and episodes of Elementary, Gossip Girl, Royal Pains, Person of Interest, and Onion SportsDome.
He has continued to develop his improv sketch comedy background through performances at the UCB Theatre and on CollegeHumor.com.
McGorry was born and raised in New York City. He attended LaGuardia High School, the "Fame" school, as a drama major. Following LaGuardia H.S., Matt attended the Theater program at Emerson College in Boston, MA.
