Bio
Boitumelo Motsoatsoe is a South African actress and singer best known for her starring role as Bokang Mashego in the SABC2 family drama series Mamello.
She previously had guest roles on the SABC1 drama series Soul City (Season 11, in 2011) and on the e.tv telenovela Ashes to Ashes, in 2015.
Having matriculated from General Smuts High School in Vereeniging, she attended The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where she studied for a BA in Dramatic Arts (Hons). She is multilingual, speaking Sesotho, English and Zulu.
She has worked on a number of theatre productions including the title role of Anowa in Sara Matchett's production at the Wits Theatre in 2008; Drinking Sundays (directed by Tsepo wa Mamatu); and the Wits productions of Lost in the Stars, Woza Albert and Sings for a New World.
Tumy has also been an actress and facilitator in schools, using theatre in education to facilitate learning in schools. She also facilitated a project with boys from Twilight Centre for homeless kids in Hillbrow.
In 2015, after a guest starring role on Ashes to Ashes, she was made a series regular on the SABC2 family drama series Mamello, which premiered on 12 August, 2015. In the series, an idealistic teacher relocates to a new school to escape an abusive marriage and begins to rebuild the school as she regains her own life.
