Bio
Rehane Abrahams is a South African actress, director and playwright known for her roles as Raya in the 2001 film Raya and Zelda in the 1998 television series Hotnotsgode.
She made her television debut on the now-defunct SABC channel TV1 in 1991, in the educational series Die Allemans. The series was notable in that it was the first educational series in South Africa featuring a Coloured cast. She played the character Dalene.
Originally from Cape Town, Rehane matriculated from Livingstone High School and graduated from the UCT Drama School with a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama. She has since appeared on stage, in film and on television.
From 1993 to 1998 she lived in San Francisco, appearing onstage with companies such as the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and Thrillpeddler's TC. During this time, Rehane also starred in the independent feature An Act of Sabotage, which was screened at festivals and on ZDF TV in Europe.
In 1998 and again in 2000, Rehane returned to South Africa for a period during which time she worked with Magnet Theatre on Voices Made Night, for which she was awarded an FNB Vita award for Best Actress. She also received an award for her portrayal of Raya in the movie Raya.
She also made guest appearances on the e.tv sitcoms Big Okes and SOS.
From 2003 to 2014, Rehane lived in Indonesia where she studied dance and worked as a theatre director. In 2015, she returned to South Africa and has since appeared in a number of films.
Rehane speaks English, Afrikaans and Indonesian.
