Bio
Monica Solwandle is a South African actress best known for her recurring role as Segomotso "Momo" Metsing on the SABC1 drama series Mfolozi Street.
An ACT Cape Town graduate in television, film and stage acting, she has also had guest starring roles in the SABC1 dramas Thola and Ngempela; as well as a starring role in an episode of the e.tv anthology series eKasi: Our Stories entitled "Umakoti Nomkhwenyane" (Season 5, Episode 31).
She has also done presenting work for Cape Town TV and L-Squared.
Monica has appeared in the films Copposites, Mankind and Dirty Reason; and has acted in several theatre productions including Ubizo, Nothing but the Truth and Lamentations of a Dying Woman.
In 2015 Monica worked as a scriptwriter on Geleza Nathi, an SABC1 educational show.
In 2018 she was selected as one of the Top 10 Youth Filmmakers at the National Film and Video Foundation's Youth Filmmakers Project, where she wrote and directed a short film titled Isikhalo which aired on SABC1 on 22 April, 2020.
She also works for Pomegranate Media as a content creator and scriptwriter. One of the shows she created with her team was the SABC2 talk show Triumph, which premiered on SABC2 on Sunday 10 April, 2022.
Originally from Cape Town, Monica currently resides in Johannesburg.
She is multilingual, speaking Xhosa, English and Zulu.
