Lentswe Bhengu was a South African celebrity chef and television personality known for his appearances on a number of food-themed shows.
Born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, Lentswe expressed a keen interest in food and dining.
He began a career in investment banking, before trading in his suit and tie for a chef's jacket in 2010.
Lentswe enrolled at The Culinary Academy in the Cape Winelands and graduated as a professional chef.
He worked his way up in the food industry at fine dining restaurants like The Savoy Cabbage, The Roundhouse Restaurant and Saucisse Deli.
Lentswe's entertainment credits include South Africa's first food web series, Africa on a Plate.
He travelled across the continent filming the series and provided online food content such as weekly recipes, videos and blogs for the site.
After that, Lentswe presented a local television cooking show for Soweto TV, called Kasi Kitchen, which aired for six months in 2014.
Lentswe appeared regularly on SABC3's Expresso as a guest chef and was a regular MC and Chef at food festivals, events and expos as well.
In 2016 he replaced Donovan Goliath as the host of the second season of the BBC Lifestyle competition series The Great South African Bake Off.
In 2017, Lentswe was the host of the advertiser-funded cooking reality series Flava Queens, which aired for six episodes on e.tv.
He died on 28 February, 2023, after suffering "a short illness", according to a family spokesperson. He was 36.
