Kate Liquorish is a British-born South African actress, writer and food stylist best known for her starring role as iconic political activist Ruth First in the BET miniseries Madiba.
She studied acting at the University of Cape Town, graduating with a BA Theatre and Performance, and has since performed in numerous theatre productions, television series and films.
Kate has acted in a number of television series (primarily comedies), including the SABC2 sketch show The Bantu Hour and the channel's medical drama Hillside, the SABC3 comedies Those Who Can't and Sober Companion, the Mzansi Magic sitcom The Mayor, the kykNET sitcom Deeltitel Dames and the e.tv drama series Z'bondiwe.
Her film credits include starring opposite Laurence Fishburne, Orlando Jones and David Harewood in Madiba; appearing with Helen Mirren in Gavin Hood's Eye in the Sky; and featuring alongside Pearl Thusi and Akin Omotoso in Kagiso Lediga's Catching Feelings.
Kate's theatre credits include the Luke Ellenbogen productions Glengarry Glenross, The Importance of Being Earnest and The Great Gatsby; Chris Weare's productions of Buried Child, The Birthday Party and Lovborg's Women; as well as a host of other plays including The Girl in the Yellow Dress, directed by Malcolm Purkey at the Market Theatre; and Sylvaine Strike's The Miser, also at the Market.
She is also a prolific voice artist, having voiced commercials for numerous clients including Peugeot, Vodacom, Supa Quick, Volvo, Weetbix, Pick 'n Pay, Stimorol, McCain's, Checkers and Bokomo.
Kate is also a food blogger and writer, and has a Youtube cooking channel called "Kitchen Hacks".
