Bio
Ryle De Morny is a South African lifesaver, presenter and actor best known to international audiences for his starring role as Chad Morgan in the Netflix drama series Blood & Water.
He is better known to South Africans as a presenter on the SABC3 lifestyle magazine show Top Billing.
Born and raised in Cape Town, Ryle graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2010 and went on to represent the country in lifesaving, winning two world championships.
The title holder of "fastest man on sand", he won gold twice at the world championships for beach sprinting.
With a passion for fitness, Ryle also runs his own company that manufactures customised gym equipment for athletes.
In 2018 he entered the Presenter Search on 3 talent competition, in which SABC3 sought new presenters for its flagship shows Top Billing, Afternoon Express and Expresso.
He won a presenting gig on Top Billing and was a host of the show for the next year, until the long-running programme was cancelled by SABC3.
The following year he made his professional acting debut when he was cast in the Netflix mystery drama series Blood & Water, in which a Cape Town teen sets out to prove whether a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth.
The series debuted in 190 countries on 20 May, 2020.
