Bio
Sipho Mbele is a South African actor, musician and author best known for his starring role as Msweswe in the SABC1 drama series iKani.
He has appeared in numerous television shows since his screen debut playing a clerk of the court on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, in 2007.
Early guest appearances included roles in the drama series Jacob's Cross, Mtunzini.com (in which he played a husband who committed suicide) and Soul City.
Sipho landed the recurring role of Donald Mahlangu in the e.tv soapie Scandal!, making his first appearance on 28 March, 2017.
Later that year he began another recurring role, this time as Robbie on the Mzansi Magic soapie The Queen, first appearing in Season 2, Episode 109 (which aired on 28 December, 2017).
His first starring role came in 2018, when he was cast as Msweswe in the SABC1 drama series iKani, about a young artist who finds out that she is from an isiNdebele family, having been raised by her aunt as a Zulu.
The following year he played the recurring role of Mr Mbhense in the SABC1 comedy-drama series Makoti, making his first appearance in the role in Season 1, Episode 7 (which aired on 28 August, 2019).
In 2020, Sipho landed another starring role, this time as Ngwazi Mahlangu in the SABC2 medical drama series Vutha. The series debuted on 3 September, 2020.
In 2021 he played the recurring role of Bongani in the Afrikaans drama series Swartwater, also on SABC2, and in 2022 he had a recurring role as Mguyo in Season 2 of the Mzansi Magic anthology series aYeYe.
In the same year he had a starring role as Kingston on the fifth season of the SABC1 comedy series Ses'Top La.
In 2023 he landed another starring role on another isiNdebele series titled Komkhulu, on Mzansi Magic. He portrays village headman Hlangabeza, embroiled in a power struggle over a chiefdom with his nephew Chief Masoso, played by Johannes Mandla Mnguni.
