Bio
Mila Guy is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Malanie Schmit in the kykNET mockumentary comedy series Hotel.
Hailing from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, she and her family emigrated to New Zealand when she was in Standard 8 (Grade 10).
She completed her first year of tertiary education at the University of Auckland before moving back to South Africa to complete a BA Drama degree at the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2014.
Mila has acted in numerous short films, TV movies and feature films, including Ballade vir 'n Enkeling, For the Birds, Wonderlus, Vuil Wasgoed, Liewe Kersfeesvader, Desember, Stille Nag, Soek jy 'n Lift and Parable.
She also played the title role in the short film Miemie (en die meteoriet wat haar definitief gaan tref), which was an official selection at the 2019 Silwerskermfees.
Mila made her television debut in the role of Zanel Jordaan on Season 10 of the kykNET soapie Binnelanders, in 2014.
2016 was her breakout year, which began with an appearance in a music video in an episode of the kykNET musical drama series Sterlopers.
She landed her first starring role in television when she was cast as Malanie Schmit in the kykNET mockumentary comedy series Hotel, which premiered on 11 July, 2016. She continued to star in every subsequent season of the show.
She also guest starred in an episode of the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners which aired on 7 August, 2016 (Season 3, Episode 10).
The following year found Mila in recurring roles on four series, in addition to her role on Hotel and parts in several films.
She recurred as Kara in the kyKNET sitcom Phil 101, first appearing in Season 1, Episode 4, which aired on 1 May, 2017. she also recurred as Antoinette de Villiers in the SABC1 comedy-drama Bedford Wives, appearing form the series premiere on 24 August, 2017.
Mila played the recurring role of Mia on the SABC2 drama series Erfsondes, beginning with the Season 6 premiere on 12 September, 2017.
She rounded out a busy year with a major recurring role as Benina in the SABC2 telenovela Keeping Score, which debuted on 2 October, 2017.
In 2019, Mila had another recurring role, this time as Vicky in the kykNET drama series Alles Malan, first appearing in Season 1, Episode 8 (which aired on 27 August that year).
She had a guest starring role in an episode of the kykNET police procedural drama series Projek Dina which aired on 3 March, 2020 (Season 1, Episode 8).
On 3 April she made her first appearance on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan in the role of Lana Basson, the award-winning photographer married to Shawn Basson (played by Deànré Reiners).
Three days later, on 6 April, she began a recurring role as Karien Koelenberg, a one-eyed librarian from Alberton taking part in a Survivor-style reality show, in a parody segment in the Casper de Vries sketch comedy show Cas Oppie Cassie called Die Laager.
Mila landed her next starring role in the kykNET comedy-drama series Ekstra Medium, which debuted on 22 September, 2020.
In the series she plays Elke, a dancer and the first official tenant of Bertie's (Wilhelm van der Walt) new premises.
Elke has just come out of a long relationship and in an effort to protect herself, she drifts from place to place and avoids getting too attached to anything or anyone.
