Solar System
Channel: BBC Earth (DStv 184)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: Nature, Documentary Series
Diamond rain, supersized volcanoes, exploding oceans - and we have a front row seat for it all.
Professor Brian Cox reveals the strange worlds visible to us as never before.
Volcano Worlds
Brian journeys to the volcano worlds of the solar system to explore alien landscapes bursting with fire and ice.
There are planets and moons covered in volcanoes, with eruptions so violent they reach into space.
Understanding what makes these worlds active is critical in the search for life beyond Earth.
Dark Worlds
Brian explores the solar system's hidden realms, between and beyond the planets, where countless worlds lie shrouded in darkness.
He visits some of its least explored regions and finds out what lies beyond the reach of even the most powerful telescopes.
The solar system is not just a few worlds orbiting close to the Sun - it's an enormous structure that stretches halfway to the nearest star.
Storm Worlds
Brian goes on a journey to the storm worlds of the solar system and explores the weird weather that plays out in the atmospheres of distant planets and moons.
He visits landscapes etched by giant dust devils, mountains coated with a strange metallic frost and monsoon rains on a moon a billion kilometres from Earth.
These are among the most dramatic and violent worlds ever discovered.
Ice Worlds
Brian explores the solar system's frozen worlds.
He meets the dwarf planet where mountains of solid ice float across the surface, the black and white moon painted with frost, and a world illuminated by a strange form of ice.
In the far reaches of the solar system, ice behaves in unimaginable ways and may have even created habitats for alien life.
Strange Worlds
Brian explores the solar system's weirdest worlds – the misfits and oddballs with freakish shapes and sizes.
He visits an egg-shaped dwarf planet that shouldn't really exist, a tiny moon that looks like a UFO, a tortured patchwork moon, and an eerie ocean world in orbit around Jupiter.
He also finds out how simple forces have created such bizarre places.

Eleven new episodes of Bargain Block will follow home renovation experts and partners Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas on their journey to restore Detroit's iconic American neighbourhoods one house at a time.

An abandoned house with plants, moss and mushrooms growing inside will inspire the couple to incorporate a rainforest theme, while they reimagine other nearby properties with a casino vibe and Mexican-infused style.
And, in a new twist, Keith and Evan will consider expanding their successful business model to another city, namely New Orleans, to help its communities restore forgotten homes to their former glory.
Escaping Detroit's icy weather for a few days, they'll scope out the potential in the Big Easy and even make an offer on a potential first property.
In the Season 4 premiere, "The Fairytale House": Shea will scout the duo's latest project - two identical crumbling houses right next door and priced at only $6,500 each.
To add value to the charming Fairytale House, which features an arched front door and gingerbread details, Keith and Evan will build a large primary suite, install a bold red marble kitchen countertop and paint a custom gold patterned wall in the guest bathroom.
