Zweli Dube is a South African actor, MC, voice artist and model best known for his role as Pule Mapetla on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, he studied journalism and media communication at Boston Media House before dropping out at the age of 20 to take the opportunity to perform in the stage musical The Lion King.
Originally a member of the ensemble in a tour that went to Australia, he was later recast as the villain Scar for a run of the show in Hong Kong.
He made his television acting debut in 2009 when he was cast as James Motsamai's (Dingaan Mokebe) lawyer Pule on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango.
He was a presenter on a late night sport show on the SABC in 2008; a studio announcer for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which was staged in South Africa; and was a presenter for the 2011 Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament.
Zweli made his film debut in the 2016 feature Kalushi: The Story of Solomon Mahlangu.
In the same year he was a guest on the SABC3 late night talk show A Date with Arthur, hosted by Arthur Mafokate, appearing in an episode with Kelly Khumalo and Nkuli Tshirumbula which aired on 19 November, 2016 (Season 1, Episode 6).
He was the voice over artist for the 2018 Miss South Africa pageant.
Also in 2018, he played the lead role in the Mzansi Magic telemovie Pastor Bae, in which a handsome pastor comes to lead a struggling church, only for the community to reject him when his dark past and true identity is revealed.
The film was written, produced and directed by Bujy Bikwa and had its first airing on 9 June, 2018.
In 2019 he had a supporting role in the comedy-drama series Agent, which aired globally on Netflix and locally on SABC1.
Zweli landed his first starring role in television when he was cast as Dingaan Jiyane in the SABC1 telenovela uBettina Wethu, based on the international series Ugly Betty.
The series premiered on 5 April, 2021.
