Bio
Asanda Hanabe is a South African actress and singer who rose to fame as a finalist on the SABC3 reality talent search The Final Cut, in 2017.
She matriculated from The High School for Girls Potchefstroom in 2007 and furthered her studies with the Abelusi Training Program at the Steve Biko Centre, from 2011-2015.
During this time she appeared in numerous stage plays including Thina Sobabini, The Giant in Him, Inzulu Yemfihlakalo, Rhythmic Love and Voices of Women.
She also lent her voice to a radio drama at TruFM, from 2014-2017.
In 2017 she was one of the 14 finalists in SABC3's talent search The Final Cut, in which contestants faced weekly dramatic challenges in order to win one of two parts on SABC drama series.
Asanda placed third on the show, but quickly found herself cast in the recurring role of Numbulelo on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy, making her first appearance in the role on 21 December, 2017.
She continued to play the role until 2020, and resurfaced for a few episodes in 2022.
She next landed a guest role in an episode of the SABC1 miniseries Emoyeni, which aired on 12 August, 2018 (Season 1, Episode 4).
The show was the first in a miniseries strand which aired on SABC1 in 2018, entitled "Woza Nazo".
In the following two years Asanda appeared in two short films, entitled Isidima (2019) and Songs About My Mother (2020).
Next she was cast in the recurring role of Anna on the Mzansi Magic soapie The Queen, making her first appearance in Season 5, Episode 203, which aired on 5 May, 2021.
The following year Asanda landed her first starring role in television when she was cast as Melusi's (Bongile Mantsai) ambitious side chick Phumzile in the SABC1 drama series Identity.
The series premiered on Sunday 8 May, 2022.
