Hein de Vries is a South African actor and stuntman best known for his starring role in the Netflix thriller miniseries Unseen.
He matriculated from Blackheath High School in Cape Town and made his television acting debut in two episodes of the M-Net drama series Transito, in 2008.
He has appeared in numerous films including 10,000 BC, Natalee Holloway, Treasure Guards, Invictus, Mad Max 3: Fury Road, Chappie, Noem my Skollie and 24hrs to Live.
Early television series he acted in include the SABC2 satirical variety comedy series Colour TV, the SABC1 drama series Montana and the e.tv anthology drama series eKasi: Our Stories.
Hein had a guest starring role in an episode of the kykNET crime drama series Die Boland Moorde (The Boland Murders) which aired on 28 February, 2017 (Season 2, Episode 3).
The recurring role of Sly followed in the kykNET drama series Sara se Geheim (Sara's Secret), making his first appearance in Season 1, Episode 6, which aired on 16 May, 2017.
He reprised the role for Season 2 the following year.
Another recurring role in a kykNET drama followed when he was cast as Mr Adams in Die Boekklub (The Book Club), first appearing in Season 2, Episode 2 (which aired on 18 July, 2017).
The following year he played the guest role of Felix in an episode of the kykNET drama series Fynskrif (Fine Print) which aired on 25 September, 2018 (Season 1, Episode 12).
Hein next landed his first soapie role when he was cast as Boela in the kykNET & kie series Arendsvlei, first appearing in Season 1, Episode 77 (which aired on 26 March, 2019).
The following year he landed two more guest starring roles in kykNET dramas: Jakob Roepman in Die Byl (The Axe) and Earl in Projek Dina (Project Dina).
Another recurring role followed, this time as Hansie in the kykNET comedy-drama series Ekstra Medium (Extra Medium), first appearing in Season 1, Episode 4, which aired on 13 October, 2020.
He also had a guest role in an episode of the SABC2 telenovela Die Sentrum (The Centre) which aired on 20 May, 2021.
