Hungani Ndlovu is a South African actor and dancer best known for his role as Romeo Medupe in the e.tv soapie Scandal!.
Born in Mpumalanga and raised in Bushbuckridge, Nelspruit, his first foray into the arts came as a youngster when he fell in love with dance.
He spent three years in the USA studying his craft and working in Los Angeles and New York.
Amongst other courses he studied dance at the Flii'Cademy and attended classes run by renowned choreographers.
Upon his return to South Africa he appeared in numberous television commercials, for clients including Virgin Money Insurance, Dettol and Debonairs Pizza.
He also acted in several theatre productions including A Night with Sam and A Raisin in the Sun, both directed by James Ngcobo.
Hungani's first credited screen role was in the 2014 short film Memoir of an Honest Voice, which was nominated for Best Short Film at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2015.
His next appearance was in another short film - Because You're Black - which debuted in 2016.
In the same year he began playing the recurring role of Romeo in Scandal!, which he would continue to play until he left the show in 2022.
In 2018 he appeared in the television movie Sipho, which aired as part of Mzansi Magic's "Lokshin Bioskop" strand.
In 2020 he appeared in the horror film The Hex and the following year had a lead role in the short film Ring of Beasts.
Hungani landed his first starring role in serial television when he was cast as Duma, Betty's new love interest, in the second season of the SABC1 comedy-drama series uBettina Wethu, a local version of the series Ugly Betty.
The second season premiered on SABC1 on 15 August, 2022.
The following year he was cast in another starring role - this time as Tbose on the SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam.
Replacing Cornet Mamabolo in the role, he made his debut in the Season 12 premiere on 3 July, 2023.
