Bio
Vuyo Biyela is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Kwenzo in the Mzansi Wethu telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis.
Born and raised in Umlazi, Durban, he matriculated from Wentworth Secondary School and went to study theatre at the Durban University of Technology.
His first credited television role was as Officer Mbhele in the e.tv soapie Durban Gen, making his first appearance in Season 1, Episode 16, which aired on 26 October, 2020.
He returned to the role for Season 2 in 2021.
The following year he was cast in the recurring role of Mlilo Hlophe, a gangster who meets an untimely demise, in the 1Magic soapie The River, first appearing in Season 5, Episode 78 (which aired on 25 May, 2022).
He won the Royalty Soapie award in the category "Outstanding Newcomer" in 2023 for this role.
Vuyo landed his first starring role in television when he was cast as Kwenzo Dlamini, a young down to earth designer, in the Mzansi Wethu telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis.
Inthe series his character is in a long-term relationship with Nomalanga (Yolanda Myeza), the daughter of a politically influential figure, but is romantically attracted to Sibongile (Luyanda Zwane), a maid in his home.
The series - the first original telenovela to air on the channel - premiered on 31 July, 2023.
