Bio
Kathy Kinney is an American actress best known for her role as Mimi Bobeck, the outrageously made-up, flamboyantly vulgar and vindictive nemesis of Drew Carey on the sitcom The Drew Carey Show.
Kinney began her career in New York City when she started performing improvisation at local comedy clubs.
In 1986 her friend, Bill Sherwood, who wrote and directed Parting Glances, cast her in that film.
In 1987 Kinney moved to Los Angeles and, since then, has guest starred on numerous television series, including Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, Dream On and Fallen Angels.
For two seasons she played Miss Goddard, the town librarian, on Newhart. She has also done a varied range of voice over work, and can be heard as Jenny the monkey on the animated series The Big Guy and Rusty The Boy Robot.
Her feature film credits include Mr. Jones, This Boy's Life, Arachnophobia, Stanley & Iris, The Three Fugitives, Scrooged and Picking Up The Pieces.
Besides appearing in many off-Broadway productions in New York, Kinney has been seen onstage in Los Angeles in Jeffrey Essmann's Triplets in Uniform and Bob Koherr's The Dying Art, as well as in productions of Woman From Samos, by Menander, and Casina, by Plautus, at the J. Paul Getty Museum.
Kinney has toured with The Improv Allstars and has headlined with them at The MGM Grand and The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
