Johnathan McClain is an American actor best known for his starring role as youthful retiree David Robbins in the television sitcom Retired at 35, from 2011-2012.
Previously, he developed a particular skill working with blonde starlets, having had series regular roles on UPN's The Bad Girl's Guide, starring Jenny McCarthy, and Jessica Simpson's sitcom pilot for ABC.
His TV resume includes a recurring role on 24, guest appearances on Medium, CSI, Law & Order: SVU, Without a Trace and Happy Family. He appeared in the Academy Award-nominated film Far from Heaven.
McClain's stage credits include appearing off-Broadway in the original cast of Jonathan Tolins' The Last Sunday in June, as well as in productions at Lincoln Center Theatre, the American Conservatory Theatre, Florida Stage, Paper Mill Playhouse and the National Jewish Theatre.
He was in the LA Weekly Award-nominated world premiere of Cold/Tender and the LA Times Critic's Choice production of The Glass Menagerie.
McClain is also active in the world of competitive performance poetry and has been a contributor to The Public Radio International series Fair Game.
He currently divides his time between L.A. and New York with his wife Laura.
