Catherine Dent is an American actress best known for her starring role as Officer Danielle "Danny" Sofer in the television drama series The Shield, from 2002-2008.
She has made guest appearances on numerous other television shows, including Frasier; Chicago Hope; The X Files; Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; Third Watch; Dharma & Greg; Nash Bridges; The Sopranos; Grey's Anatomy; CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; Judging Amy and Law & Order.
Dent has also had roles in the made-for-TV movies The Steven Banks Show (1991), A Girls' Guide to Sex (1993), and Tides of War (2005). In 2007 she is filming another TV movie, The Bad Son.
In addition, Dent has apepared in the feature films Nobody's Fool (1994); Jaded (1996); The Debutantes (1996); March 29th, 1979 (1997); Dangerous Proposition (1998); Someone Like You... (2001); Replicant (2001); It Is What It Is (2001); The Majestic (2001); Venomous (2002); Auto Focus (2002); 21 Grams (2003); and The Unseen (2005).
Her theatre credits include the title role in Baby Doll, Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and roles in Bang The Drum Slowly and The Street of the Sun at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
In New York, she starred Off-Broadway in Amoeba Concerto and understudied for the Sofya and Yelena roles in Uncle Vanya on Broadway.
