Bio
Brian Van Holt is an American actor best known for his starring role as Jules' ex-husband Bobby Cobb in the television sitcom Cougar Town.
He is also known for his television roles in Threshold (2005-2006) and John From Cincinnati.
He has made guest appearances on Beverly Hills, 90210; Spin City; Homicide: Life on the Street; Martial Law; LateLine; Sex and the City; Love & Money; and The $treet; and appeared in the failed pilot Secrets of a Small Town in 2006.
Van Holt's many feature film credits include Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down, as Task Force Ranger Jeff Struecker, who led the convoy to a fallen soldier in Mogadishu, Somalia.
He starred with Nicholas Cage in Windtalkers as a U.S. Marine officer assigned to protect a Navajo code-talker in World War II and he was the enigmatic soldier Dunbar, opposite John Travolta and Sam Jackson, in Basic, directed by John McTiernan.
He then segued to SWAT, with Colin Farrell and Sam Jackson, for director Clark Johnson; in Confidence Van Holt worked with director Jamie Foley and actors Dustin Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and Ed Burns, portraying one of a group of conmen swindling money from a wealthy eccentric; and he starred alongside Tommy Lee Jones in Man of the House, portraying an FBI agent assigned to protect a sorority house of local college cheerleaders.
Van Holt was born in the Midwest in Waukegan, Illinois and moved to California at a young age, growing up in Huntington Beach. He currently resides in Venice Beach, California.
