Bio
Lexa Doig is a Canadian actress best known for her role as the Andromeda Ascendant, the starship’s sophisticated artificial intelligence system, in the television sci-fi series Andromeda, appearing in 103 episodes from 2000-2005.
Prior to joining the shoe, Doig starred in a number of projects for both the small and big screen including Jason X, Code Name Phoenix, Tekwar and No Alibi.
Doig also appeared in CIS: The New Professional, Traders and The 4400. In addition, she was featured as a guest star in various popular television series including Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict and FX: The Series.
Since 2005 she has played the recurring role of Dr. Carolyn Lam on Stargate SG-1.
Doig’s theatre credits include Romeo and Juliet and Arsenic and Old Lace.
She has been married to actor Michael Shanks since 2 August 2003. The couple met when he guest-starred in the 2001 Andromeda episode entitled "Star-Crossed" (Season 1, Episode 20).
They have two children: a daughter Mia Tabitha Shanks, born September 13, 2004 and a son Samuel David Shanks, born March 19, 2006.
