Bio
Guadalupe Vidal is a young designer who aims to revolutionise the fashion world by infusing fresh perspective and intriguing designs.
Her fashion career at a young age and used to design and sew clothes in her garage. Her interest in design flowered into a passion for millinery, accessories, furniture design, graphic design, costume design and styling.
She earned her degree in Merchandise Marketing/Product Development from FIDM in 2001. With technology serving as a catalyst for her vision, she set out to design clothing and accessories that were highly stylized using innovative uses of colour, form, texture, and function.
As a writer is to prose, Guadalupe parallels her design methods to that of the composition of a sentence. She believes the language of fashion is about making a statement where the wearer is the subject, the silhouette is the noun, the details are adjective, and fabrics flow as the verb.
For Guadalupe, fashion, like a sentence, is a thing of movable parts and an adaptable structure that is completely subject to the designer’s will. Guadalupe strives to create fashion as a dialogue to serve as a way to connect us on an international scale.
Guadalupe Vidal is…Plain Lucid! Plain Lucid is a fashion label created in response to the vivid dreams of designer Guadalupe Vidal, dreams that have come to reality in her life. Her designs have been described as “lush, feminine, trippy and otherworldly.”
In the spirit of surrealist artist and designer Elsa Schiaparelli, Plain Lucid wishes to pay homage to the creation of art in the form of clothing, using cloth as canvas to supplement the rational and formal with fantasy and dream.
