Bill Murray is an American comedian and actor best known for his roles in the movies Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Lost In Translation; and as the host of and performer in Saturday Night Live.
He has played other notable roles in the movies Tootsie (1982); Little Shop of Horrors (1986); What About Bob? (1991); Mad Dog and Glory (1993); Ed Wood (1994); Kingpin (1996); The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997); Wild Things (1998); Rushmore (1998); Cradle Will Rock (1999); Hamlet (2000); Charlie's Angels (2000); The Royal Tenenbaums (2001); Garfield (2004); Broken Flowers (2005); The Lost City (2005); and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006).
After dramatic roles in Wild Things, Cradle Will Rock, and Hamlet (as Polonius), and a comedic role in Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums, he garnered considerable acclaim for the 2003 film Lost in Translation.
He received a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA award, as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
In an interview included on the Lost in Translation DVD, Murray states that it is his favourite movie in which he has appeared.
