Nakedi Ribane is a South African actress, author, fashion and beauty editor, co-owner of a modelling agency and former model best known for hosting the SABC2 talk show Motswako The Mix.
She is better known to international audiences for her role as Nyasa Mathiba in the teen adventure series African Skies, which aired in the USA from 1992-1994.
She also starred as matriarch Nomsa Mthetho in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Inkaba, from 2012-2013.
Born in Ga-Sekhukhuni and raised in Mamelodi outside Pretoria, Nakedi started her modeling career in the early 80s and advanced quickly to become one of South Africa's top models of her era.
She began acting in the late 80s whilst still a model and hs since appeared in numerous local and international television series, including Molo Fish, Soul City and the mini-series Ekhaya: A Family Chronicle (1997) and Human Cargo (2004).
Nakedi has also acted in the feature films Waati (1995) and The Long Run (2000), among others.
In theatre, she won the 2002 FNB Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Noria in an adaptation of Zakes Mda's novel Ways of Dying.
She published her first book - Beauty ... A Black Perspective - in September, 2006.
She played the leading role of Linda Mokoena, the secretive wife of a wealthy Xhosa doctor - in the SABC2 mini-series Noah's Ark, from July to August, 2008.
