Rupert Penry-Jones is an English actor best known for his role as Adam Carter in the crime drama television series Spooks, from 2004-2008.
He currently stars as DI Joseph Chandler in the crime drama television series Whitechapel, since 2009. He also stars as Clive Reader in Silk, since 2011.
Other television series he has had significant roles in include North Square (2000), Cambridge Spies (2003) and Casanova (2005).
He has also made guest appearances on numerous shows including French and Saunders, Absolutely Fabulous, Kavanagh QC, Cold Lazarus, Agatha Christie's Poirot and Burn Up.
Penry-Jones has also acted in several television movies including Fatherland, Cold Comfort Farm, The Ring, The Moth, Jane Eyre, The Prince of Hearts, Krakatoa: Volcano of Destruction, Joe's Palace, The 39 Steps and Treasure Island.
He married actress Dervla Kirwan in August 2007 after a three-year engagement. The couple met in a theatre production, Dangerous Corner, in 2001 and have two children; Florence (born 1 May, 2004) and Peter (born 8 April, 2006).
