Maulik Pancholy is an American actor best known for his television comedy roles as Sanjay in Weeds (2005-2009) and as Jonathan in 30 Rock, from 2006-2013.
He currently stars as Neal - a real modern-day Renaissance man who is sensitive, cool and knows a little bit about everything - in the television sitcom Whitney, from 2011-2012.
Pancholy can also be seen opposite Lisa Kudrow in the Showtime comedy Web Therapy. Created by Kudrow, the comedy follows a therapist who treats patients via webcam in three-minute weekly sessions.
Pancholy is best known for his recurring role on the critically acclaimed, Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning NBC comedy 30 Rock. Pancholy stars as Jonathan, the loyal assistant to Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin).
In 2009, Pancholy shared the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. He also shared the SAG Award nomination with the cast for this same category in 2008 and in 2011.
He is also known for his recurring role as Sanjay on Showtime's award-winning dramatic comedy Weeds. The show was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2009. Additionally, the show was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
In 2007, Pancholy shared a SAG Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
Additionally, Pancholy lends his voice to the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb. Pancholy provides the voice of Baljeet, Phineas and Ferb's friend from India, who is learning from them that there is more to life than getting good grades.
He received a B.S. in theatre and musical theatre from Northwestern University and went on to get his M.F.A. at the Yale School of Drama. He also trained with the renowned comedy improv group The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
He spends his time between New York and Los Angeles.
