Andrea Anders is an American actress best known for her television roles as Joey Tribbiani's next door neighbour Alex Barrett on the sitcom Joey, and as Nicole Allen, the lead character on the 2006/2007 sitcom The Class.
She also starred as Alice in the short-lived sitcom Mr. Sunshine, in 2011.
Anders began her screen acting career in 1998 with a turn as Elaine, Starr's nanny, on the soapie One Life To Live. She followed up that role by playing Ellie, Olivia's assistant, in another soapie, Guiding Light, in 2001.
In the same year she landed a guest role in an episode of Law & Order, entitled "The Fire This Time" (Season 12, Episode 8).
Her next role was in the 2003 made-for-TV movie Spellbound, which she followed up with a five-episode recurring role as Donna Degenhart, the owner of a telemarketing enterprise, in the 6th season of the HBO prison drama Oz (2003).
In 2004 she had a guest role on Tru Calling, in the episode entitled "Rear Window" (Season 1, Episode 18). She also made her feature film debut as Heather in the remake of The Stepford Wives. To date it is her only film role.
From 2004 to 2006 she starred as Alex Garrett in the sitcom Joey, appearing in 46 episodes over both seasons of the show.
Once Joey was cancelled she was immediately offered the role of Nicole Allen in another sitcom, The Class, which she continues to play today.
Anders began her career in theatre. She was an understudy for Mary Louise Parker in the Broadway production of Proof and played Elaine Robinson in The Graduate.
She appeared in On the Jump at the Arena Stage, New Doors at the Guthrie Theater, and two New York Stage & Film productions (Cold/Tender and New World Rhapsody).
Anders was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. She graduated from DeForest Area High School in DeForest, Wisconsin in 1993 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1997.
In 2001, she earned a Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University.
