Lorette Mostert is a reality contestant on the second season of the reality show Survivor South Africa: Malaysia, in 2007.
A policewoman who's a superintendent in the South African Police Service, Lorette has completed the Comrades and has black belts in judo and karate.
Lorette was one of two Survivor contestants who were voted onto the show by readers of various South African magazines and newspapers. She was voted in by readers of the Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Rapport.

Why should South Africa choose you as the 16th Survivor candidate?
I have the X-factor to survive. I am the average contender that the public wants to see, but I have above average mental and physical abilities.
On appearance I do not seem like much of a challenge to any competitor, but looks definitely are deceiving. I will show the public what it means to “survive”.
I have enough determination to win challenges and I have an impressive, likeable character. I also have basic survival skills so South Africa will see what all can be done while stranded on an island.
Why are you the ideal Survivor candidate?
I am intelligent, very fit and strong. Very competitive with a good sense of humor and I have some general knowledge of survival skills in the outdoors.
What do you do for a living?
Previous jobs?I am a Superintendent in the SAPS. I am working in the division Crime Prevention. I joined the SAPS directly after school and currently have 17 years service in the Police.

Honest, competitive, positive, loyal, and determined.
What is the accomplishment you're most proud of?
Obtaining a black belt in karate and judo. For both I had to put in a lot of hours hard work.
What are your hobbies?
All physical activities. Running, cycling, adventure racing, orienteering, etc. I also enjoy reading and playing computer games.
What makes you laugh?
Life.
What makes you cry?
The Receiver of Revenue at the end of every financial year. A sad movie.
Who is your hero, and why?
Ryk Neetling: he is an excellent sports person who stayed humble, and he is a feast for the eye.
What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do?
Prepare for the Comrades. It is very time consuming and the family, especially the kids, have to sacrifice a lot of together family time.
What is the first thing people notice about you?
My smile.
What makes you smile?
Life, and all the nice things in life.
What are your bad habits?
I am impatient and easily irritated by incompetent people.

I am a friendly helpful person, with a kind heart. I am determined, positive and honest with a great spirit for adventure.
What do you do on the weekends?
I run, shop, eat and rest. All these activities I do with my family.

Determination, perseverance, patience and a sense of humour.
What would you miss the most if you're chosen to go onto Survivor?
My family. My husband Johan, my daughter Monique and my son Vincent. A bath or shower and chocolates.
