Bio
Cheryl Kosewicz was a contestant on the television reality competition Pirate Master, in 2007. She committed suicide shortly after being eliminated from the show, in 2007.
Kosewicz was born and raised on a 22-acre farm in Grand Couler, Washington, where she and her family literally lived off the land (the only store purchases were paper products) and would fish, hunt, garden, sew her own clothes, work with animals and make things for the farm.
She grew up a tomboy with her older brother, Mike and there was nothing he could do that she couldn't.
Kosewicz began participating in rodeo at a young age, where she could ride a horse. She competed in barrel-racing, pole bending, goat tying, roping and calf riding.
Her father then turned her on to basketball and she discovered her true love. During high school she played basketball, track and cross-country running. She was also class president and graduated valedictorian.
Kosewicz then sold her horses and moved to Europe for the summer. She received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she was on the dean's list, on a basketball scholarship and continued there to study for her master's degree.
While at UNLV, she worked in the Sports Information Department and tutored college athletes in English. Eventually, she became one of the voices of the UNLV Lady Rebel Basketball team and was the colour commentator for all the home games for ESPN Radio.
She then attended law school at North-Western School of Law in Portland, where she received her Doctorate of Law. She worked as a deputy district attorney in Las Vegas for six and a half years.
At the time of her death she was a Deputy District Attorney in Reno, Nev., focusing on prosecution of sexual abuse and children.
In courtrooms during the day, at night Kosewicz competed in various sports such as soccer, basketball, boxing and triathlons. She regularly went to the gym, ran, skied and swam. She travelled the world as a member of the USA Basketball Team.
She was a member of the Nevada Bar Association, The Board of Directors Adoption Exchange (helps in the adoption of foster children) and the Amateur Boxing Association.
She also enjoyed reading, horseback riding and athletic events.
Kosewicz described herself as confident, athletic, competitive and loud.
