Marques Houston is an American R&B singer and actor. Houston's 3rd album, Veteran, was the number one R&B album in the USA and Number 5 on the Hot 100 chart.
He began his R&B singing career when he became a member of the group Immature. The group became IMx later on and the other group members were Jerome Romeo Jones and Don "Half Pint" Santos who was later replaced by Kelton Kessee.
Marques was also known as Marques "Batman" Houston. Immature made a total of four albums in the 90s. When they became IMx, they made two albums and they even went into acting with one movie and one television show. In 2002 the group disbanded.
This was the start of Houston's solo career. He made a total of five albums from 2003 to the present.
His solo debut album MH came out in October of 2003. This album peaked at number five on the Billboard's Top R&B and Hip Hop albums. The hit singles on that album were That Girl, Clubbin, Pop That Booty and Because of You.
2005 was the year for Houston's second released album, entitled Naked. It contains the songs All Because of You, Sex Wit You and Naked ranked at number thirteen. For the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop album it ranked at number five.
His third album Veteran debuted at number one on the Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop album in 2007. This was his first solo album to go to Billboard's number one ranking album.
His fourth album was entitled Mr. Houston in 2009 and then he followed it up with his latest album Mattress Music.
Houston is not only known for his R&B singing but also for his acting career. His first acting was an animation comedy film, Bebe's Kids, in 1992. His acting was first noticed in the television comedy show Sister, Sister where he stayed for five seasons.
In 2004 he was given a role in the movie You Got Served. He then went back to television shows on 2005 where he starred in Cuts. Other movie appearances include the horror movie Somebody Help Me and the sequel Somebody Help Me 2.
His first stint as an actor was in the 1994 comedy film House Party 3 where he appeared along with his Immature bandmates. Along with his singing career, he was never far from acting and appearing in several movies.
He was featured in movies such as Good Burger, House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute, You Got Served, Fat Albert, Somebody Help Me and Somebody Help Me 2.
Television appearances also kept Marques busy with his acting. He appeared in many television shows like A Different World, Family Matters, The Parent 'Hood, Sister Sister, Rock Me Baby, One on One and Cuts.
Of all the television shows he appeared in, he was most well known for his role of Roger Evans in the comedy series Sister, Sister.
He also has his own television show series Cuts which is a spin off from One on One. In 1995, he won the Youth Artist Award for the television show Sister, Sister.
He was nominated in the MTV Movie Awards for the Best Dance Sequence Category in the movie You Got Served. He was again nominated in the same year in the Mobo Awards as Best Collaboration for Clibbins.
In 2005, his performance in Cuts got him a nomination in the Teens Choice Award.
