Lucy Hale (sometimes credited as Lucy Kate Hale) is an American actress best known for her starring role as Aria Montgomery, the artsy chameleon who is interested in English — and her English teacher, Ezra Fitz - in the teen drama mystery series Pretty Little Liars.
She previously starred as Becca Sommers, younger sister to title character Jaime Sommers, in the re-imagined science fiction series Bionic Woman, in 2007.
She also starred as Rose Baker, a spoiled rich girl who - along with her twin sister - wreaks havoc on her unsuspecting tutor (Joanna Garcia) in the television dramedy series Privileged, from 2008-2009.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Hale realised a passion for music at an early age and began voice lessons in earnest at the age of 9.
In addition to her home schooling, she enrolled in Independent Education acting classes and began to combine her talents for both singing and acting.
She appeared on American Juniors, finishing in the Top 5 and becoming a member of the band which was formed at the show's conclusion. Her positive experience on the program inspired her to seriously pursue a career in entertainment.
Hale's television credits include How I Met Your Mother, The O.C., Drake & Josh and American Family.
She also appeared in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. The film's shooting took Hale to such locations as the Greek island of Santorini, New York and Connecticut.
Hale resides in Southern California.
