Bio
Danny Boome is an English celebrity chef who began his career as a professional ice hockey player. He is best known to television viewers for hosting a number of cooking shows, including Wild and Fresh (2003) and Danny by the Sea (2005-2006).
Originally from Cambridgeshire, Danny started out as a professional ice hockey player and became Captain of the England team at the age of sixteen.
Danny went on to train in Switzerland, where he became fascinated with European cookery. He then moved to Canada, where he got the chance to experience kitchen life, working at the critically acclaimed West Wind Inn.
To complete his training, Danny returned to Britain and attended The Grange Cookery School. He then worked at the fashionable St Martins Lane Hotel and later became a freelance chef, working for a diverse clientele.
After gaining this cooking experience, Danny turned towards a career in the media, winning a national modelling competition for the new face of Wella and advertising Hellman's mayonnaise.
He launched his television career in 2003 on UKTV Food's co-production Wild and Fresh - Danny travelled from the East to West coast of Canada searching out what each province had to offer in the way of its home-grown delights and then taking inspiration from traditional dishes, Danny would return his host's hospitality by cooking them up a dish with a contemporary twist.
In 2005 Danny followed up his Canadian trip with a journey of discovery around the North Norfolk coast line in the Anglia Television and UKTV Food production of Norfolk's Coastal Kitchen (known in syndication as Danny by the Sea).
The show followed Danny retracing his steps around his childhood holiday destination of North Norfolk and showed the viewer where Danny started to gain his passion for food and fresh produce.
With the success of Norfolk's Coastal Kitchen, Danny followed up that success with a second season in January 2006 called Coastal Kitchen. This new journey continued Danny's quest to search out the freshest ingredients, the best recipes and the most special characters.
2005 saw Danny increase his profile by gaining a regular spot on Summer This Morning on ITV; he has also gained credits on Children's BBC, UKTV Sport and UKTV Good Food Live.
He has appeared at the Autumn Ideal Home Show and has featured in many high profile advertisements.
Danny also continues to run his own cookery school which features courses for those who have never cooked before and those who want to improve.
As an avid campaigner for educating children, parents and schools on healthy eating, Danny also promoted the importance of understanding the production chain that delivers to the kitchen table.
In 2006 Danny held cookery classes for inmates at Peterborough prison in Cambridgeshire and advised the kitchen staff on menu and produce selection.
In March 2008 he began hosting the cooking show Rescue Chef, for the Food Network in the USA.
