Bio
Kate Humble is an English television presenter specialising in wildlife and science programmes. She is best known in the UK for presenting the BBC Two series Springwatch and Autumnwatch, with Bill Oddie.
Born in London, Kate travelled to Africa after leaving school and spent ten months working as a model, a safari driver and on a crocodile farm whilst travelling a circuitous route from Cape Town to Cairo.
On her return to London, she began a freelance career in television production, working up from production assistant to researcher then assistant producer.
In 1997 she joined the BBC to work on the series Animal Hospital. Three months later, she joined the Holiday production team as a researcher and within 24 hours of starting the job was asked to present her first report.
This extended to presenting reports for Summer Holiday and Holidays Out. By now a Holiday regular, Kate was given the task of training as a Club 18-30 rep for Fasten Your Seatbelts on BBC One.
In 2000 Kate co-presented Top Gear, examined rural matters for Countryfile and presented a series from the parkland of Longleat Animal Park, as well as joining the team for Rolf's Amazing Animals.
She made her debut on BBC One's live City Hospital late in 2001 and joined the series for its first run of 2002, at the same time joining the new team of Tomorrow's World.
In 2002 and 2003, Kate dived to the depths of the ocean in The Abyss, a day of live broadcasts exploring life at the bottom of the sea.
Another live deep water series Beyond The Abyss followed the next year as well as Wild In Your Garden with Bill Oddie.
Then came the immensely popular and successful Springwatch, along with Wild In Africa and Seawatch.
Kate continues to contribute to several magazines and newspapers and is co-author of the Springwatch and Autumnwatch books.
Other presenting credits include Rough Science, Climate Change: Britain Under Threat, Wild In California and Pacific Abyss.
