Bio
Debbie Rakusin is a South African dancer, choreographer and dance instructor who has choreographed such events as the Mr South Africa Pageant, the closing ceremony of the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the SAMA Awards and Nelson Mandela's 85th birthday.
She has choreographed numerous musicals, including The Wiz, The Boyfriend, Ipi Tombi, Little Shop of Horrors, African Footprint and Bravo China.
Other events she has choreographed include the re-launch of the SABC in 1996, the Victor Sports Awards, the Avanti Awards, Nelson Mandela's farewell to his Presidency function, the Indian Film Awards, the launch of the World Cup Cricket Logo in 2001, Miss South Africa (2001), Miss SA and Miss SA Teen awards in 2002, the Opening Ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup (2003), and field shows for the Tri Nations Rugby tournament.
She has also choreographed a number of music videos, for artists such as Lucky Dube, Brenda Fassie and Splash.
In 2003 she even choreographed a show for the enthronement ceremony of the new King of Bafokeng.
Debbie is one of the judges of the South African version of the reality dance competition So You Think You Can Dance, which airs on SABC1 from 9 August, 2008.
