Bio
Burton Roberts was a contestant on the seventh instalment of the Survivor reality TV series, entitled Survivor: Pearl Islands. He was a member of the Drake tribe, and came fifth.
In the fourth episode Roberts convinced the Drake tribe to throw the challenge to get rid of their dead weight, which he believed was Christa. However, his move made the women and Rupert believe he was a hardcore player.
Even though Rupert was captured by Morgan, Jon convinced Shawn to brake away from Burton and Michelle, thus Burton got voted out by five votes to two.
In one of the most bizarre twists in Survivor history, he and the five others that had been voted out all returned in the seventh episode of Pearl Islands as the "Outcast" tribe to compete in an immunity challenge against the two established tribes, Drake and Morgan.
His "Outcast" tribe won the challenge, thus forcing both tribes to go to tribal council and vote someone off. As an added bonus, he and Lillian Morris were voted back into the game.
In another blinside vote, Burton attempted to oust Darrah for being good at the challenges. However, when the boys went on the reward, Sandra and Darrah convinced Lil to screw over Burton. They promised not to say something to tip off Burton or Jon when they came back.
To Burton's surprise, he was voted off (3-2) and became the 5th member of the jury.
Roberts became the first — and thus far, the only — contestant in Survivor history to be eliminated twice in the same season, while Morris managed to reach the Final Two, where she lost to winner Sandra Diaz-Twine.
Roberts was born in Houston, and raised in St. Louis. He resides in San Francisco, where he works as a marketing executive for a start-up tech company in the video gaming industry.
Previously, he worked as a marketing and business development consultant and an alliance manager.
With bachelor degrees in both business and philosophy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, he is most proud of earning a Masters Degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois (one of the top business schools in the world).
His favourite hobbies include adventure racing, mountain biking and traveling, and he describes himself as adventurous, funny and a hard worker. He owns five Texas longhorns on his family's ranch outside of Austin, Texas.
His heroes are his mom and dad who have worked so hard and have achieved success in life while being so dedicated to family.
Prior to appearing on Survivor, Roberts was a contestant in the fourth instalment of the reality adventure series Eco-Challenge: Fiji, in 2002. He was credited in the show as John Burton.
He was a member of the KaBoom Power Punch/ZOIC team, which lasted six days before being pulled off the course for being too far behind the leaders.
After Survivor, Roberts appeared in 2005 television series Battle of the Network Reality Stars, which he followed up by appearing in the E! network's reality show Kill Reality and its spin-off TV movie The Scorned, both later that year.
He played the role of Bartender in The Scorned.
He also hosted the 2007 television series Camp Reality, in which he used a handheld camcorder to film reality stars in a series of competitions and games high atop the San Bernadino Mountains in Big Bear, California.
There were six episodes in the series.
