Bio
Chris Hyndman is a Canadian interior decorator best known for hosting (with life partner Steven Sabados) a number of design reality shows, including Designer Guys and Design Rivals.
A native of Newfoundland, Chris started down his decorating career path in 1992 when he teamed up with Steven Sabados to form The Sabados Group Inc.
The company initially focused on event planning, product launches and set design. Chris shared responsibility in the creative planning, project management and public relations for events including the launch of Toronto's Eye Magazine, and set design for City TV's Fashion Television, Movie Television, and Much Music.
The Sabados Group Inc. naturally expanded into interior decorating as the company gained exposure through regular television appearances on national home decorating shows such as City TV's CityLine, CTV's Canadian House & Home, Life Network's Canadian Living Television, and HGTV's This Small Space.
As the company profile grew, Chris shifted his focus toward decorating for a rapidly growing residential clientele list. His responsibilities included new client consultations, decor and space planning, custom furniture design and project management.
Together with Steven, Chris co-hosted the hit series Designer Guys that airs on HGTV Canada, in the USA on Discovery and in South Africa on The Home Channel. It is also seen in over 17 countries around the world.
In 2003 their new design series Design Rivals was successfully launched. They also launched So Chic With Steven & Chris, a fashion and beauty makeover show.
The pair have also opened a retail store called Decadence By Design in St John’s Newfoundland, for which Chris custom designs the majority of the furnishings and purchases the exquisite accessories for resale.
Chris is also involved in the development of creative home decor ideas that are featured in a variety of Canadian decorating magazines such as Style At Home, Canadian House & Home, and lifestyle magazines such as Chatelaine, and Canadian Living.
