Stephen Tobolowsky is an American actor best known for his role as Ned Ryerson - Bill Murray's annoying former high school classmate and now insurance salesman - in the 1993 comedy film Groundhog Day.
Tobolowsky is one of Hollywood's leading character actors. He has appeared in more than 200 movies and television shows, and USA Today listed him as the ninth most frequently seen actor in film.
He is best known for his roles in Groundhog Day, Memento, Sneakers, Garfield and Freaky Friday.
On television, he has appeared on Glee, Californication, Deadwood, Heroes and Seinfeld. Additionally, he wrote and performed the comic documentary film, Stephen Tobolowsky's Birthday Party and wrote True Stories with David Byrne and Beth Henley.
He also had a starring role in the television comedy series The Mindy Project, in 2012.
He currently performs his stories on the The Tobolowsky Files at www.slashfilm.com and on iTunes. They are also broadcast weekly on KUOW in Seattle, as well as in Louisville and Austin.
From Dallas, Texas, Tobolowsky resides in Los Angeles.
