Pravesh Maharaj
Lives in: Durban
Age: 27 Pravesh Maharaj is funky and cool and hates to be stereotyped. He believes he is a typical Aquarian – his birthday is on February 4th. He has an Information Technology Degree and works as a senior account manager for an Internet Service Provider.
Pravesh has received Natal colours for Volleyball and is into fashion, music, bodyart, fishing, making out and hip-hop competition dancing. His favourite pet is a rare albino pit-bull terrier that is allergic to the sun and has its own pet medical aid in case of emergencies. Pravesh maintains that he did not enter Fear Factor South Africa for the money.
He enjoys a great life, with designer clothes, a penthouse at the beach and wheels to die for: he adores his stylish e46 BMW M3. “No-one else is allowed to drive my car – it’s the only one of its kind in Phoenix and has a two-tone finish – green in some light, yellow in others.”
If Pravesh wins the competition he will donate some of it to the Anti-Crime unit in his area – his mother was shot during a robbery, and although she has recovered - Pravesh would like to do what he can to help stop crime.
Pravesh believes he is a man with many different sides: “Sometimes I’m shy, other times fabulous, forceful and persistent. I have never lost at anything in life and believe I will easily win this competition.
“I prepared myself mentally by eating maggots once I heard I’d been selected and also did shooting practice, dieted, meditated and had plenty of sex to release tension – I enjoy practicing the Kama Sutra and have managed up to 48 different positions. After all, I’m quite fit – I once swam the Midmar Mile.”
It’s not surprising Pravesh says his most embarrassing moment was being caught at it in public (in a 4X4 nogal) at the Michael Jackson concert. “The freakiest thing I’ve ever done is let someone burn me with a cigarette and videotape it.”
