Russell September Lives in: Cape Town
Age: 26
Russell is a quiet sort of guy with a dry sense of humour who grew up in Grassy Park, Cape Town. He is an electrical fitter qualified to work on trains and currently works at Metrorail.
He is married to Yulene and has two kids, Lee (two years old) and Alex (7 months). They live in their own home in Ottery.
"I studied hard to get my trade diploma and would like to make a success of my life and give my family everything they need. Personally I had a great childhood. I have an award for American Kickboxing and received a Bronze medal for the SA Championships in Pretoria in 1998.
“I like to have fun and enjoy going to West End at the Galaxy and having a cool time with my friends. I like old-school music and hip-hop. I dig music with bass, you should see the speakers in my car! I love that song “Don’t funk with my heart” by the Black Eyed Peas.
“I’m a Jack and lime man! I am also a Libra and thus very punctual. I’m also very sentimental – I have this dried out old crocodile head from a school outing in Knysna, I’m very attached to it and I’ve put it on display in my lounge. “I like teaching my son to wrestle and have three great dogs, a boerbull, a Labrador and a Bull Mastiff called Mike after Mike Tyson. My favourite dog Joey died of a heart murmur – he was clever and obedient and it used to be one of my favourite things to take him to training on Sundays. I entered Fear Factor because I watch the International one with my son, and I think I’m up to the challenge. The only thing I’m scared of is bees, so I hope there are no bees in the local version.
“The worst thing that ever happened to me was two things. My mother was murdered on Mother’s Day, and my brother shot and killed my mother’s killer. My brother died at age 29, he broke his neck diving into a pool. I think those experiences hardened me a lot. But life goes on and I appreciate life a lot.”
