About the Show

Playing House is an American television sitcom created by and starring Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, whose real-life friendship inspired the series, in which single mother-to-be Maggie ends her marriage upon discovering her husband's affair and turns to her best friend for support to help raise her unborn baby.

Playing House, starring and executive produced by Jessica St. Clair (Best Friends Forever) and Lennon Parham (Best Friends Forever), is a single-camera buddy comedy about what happens when two best friends come back together just when they need each other the most.

Childhood best friends Maggie Caruso and Emma Crawford have shared countless adventures growing up together in the charming town of Pinebrook, Connecticut. Now, Maggie and Emma are in store for one of their biggest adventures yet - raising a baby.

When Maggie discovers that her husband is having an online affair with a muscular German woman, Emma gives up her burgeoning business career in China to stay in their hometown and help Maggie raise her baby.

Meanwhile, as Maggie prepares for the birth of her first child and the fallout of her marriage ending, Emma must confront the past that she abruptly left behind 13 years ago - her first love and local cop Mark (Keegan-Michael Key), her prim-and-proper mother (Jane Kaczmarek) and a small town that she's never felt comfortable in.

Despite their differences - Emma is brash, bold, and assertive while Maggie is grounded, rational, and safe - the women complement each other the way only best friends can, by facing the challenges of their past, present and future - together.

10 Things You Need to Know About Playing House

1. It's about two best friends and a baby on the way.

2. There are plenty of strange encounters with the past, like an epic poetry slam throw-down between a daughter and mother...

3. And a rescue mission to save an ex-boyfriend from a leather-ridden biker night.

4. In a small town, you can't always avoid your enemies. Cue ladies' brunch with an arch nemesis and a platter of deviled eggs.

5. Sometimes weird stuff happens, like the case of the missing garden gnomes...

6. ...or the singing divorce lawyer who can lay down a 16th century accapella jam...

7. ...even getting toasted with a cocktail wiener at a high school drumline reunion.

8. Fights with a BFF can totes happen and kewl doesn't always mean cool.

9. But best friends always stick together, even if it means rounding up a rag-tag bunch of dreamers to paint an entire house in a weekend...

10. And at the end of the day, Playing House is a story about best friends, and there's nothing better than a heart to heart with your BFF in the cozy confines of your childhood playhouse. Even if a family of eavesdropping raccoons is nestled next to you.

In addition to St. Clair and Parham, Playing House is executive produced by Scot Armstrong (Old School, Hangover 2) of American Work, Judah Miller (American Dad) and Ravi Nandan (Best Friends Forever). The series is produced by Universal Cable Productions.
