A San Francisco police detective assigned to investigate a murder discovers that she may be involved in the horrific crime...
Against the moody, fog-laden backdrop of the San Francisco waterfront, police detective Jessica Shepard becomes embroiled in a darkly personal hunt for a serial killer in this psychological thriller directed by Philip Kaufman.
When Jessica Shepard and her partner Mike Delmarco are assigned to investigate a mysterious murder, she soon realises that the killing may be a message to her, as the victim was a former love interest.
Soon thereafter, another of her former boyfriends shows up dead.
As men from her past turn up dead on a daily basis, Jessica is haunted by her own childhood tragedy - when her father went on an insane killing spree.
As the suspicion mounts, Jessica is trapped in a macabre situation in which she cannot even rule out the possibility that she might be the killer.
