Extant is an American science fiction television series created by Mickey Fisher and executive produced by Steven Spielberg which revolves around astronaut Molly Woods, who returns home to her family inexplicably pregnant after 13 months in outer space during her mission.
Berry plays an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.
Opening introduction (voice-over by Halle Berry):
"I went to space on a 13-month solo mission. I didn't come home alone. My husband created a life-like android called 'Humanich'. His name is Ethan: he's the prototype. This is a story about Earth, family. A story about survival."
In Season 2 the story makes a direction change as Molly discovers she has unwittingly put the human race on a path to destruction and that she and mysterious stranger JD Richter (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) may be the only hope for survival.
Extant is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker, Mickey Fisher, who wrote the script, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank serve as executive producers. Halle Berry serves as co-executive producer.
The series is distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and worldwide by CBS Studios International.
