Moeggeploeg is a South African, Afrikaans-language television sitcom which follows Vlok and Vlerkies Vorster, the owners of Moeggeploeg, a popular meeting place just outside Ottoshoop in the North West province.
This is where the people of the area relax (mostly at night), and on weekends young and old come from far and wide for a good time.
But this series focuses on weekdays, when the Vorsters are getting ready for the late afternoon and evening traffic, and only a few regulars and "porch farmers" are present in their favourite places. Of course, there is always great excitement when a traveler pops in.
Lulu, the waitress, does her best despite several glaring shortcomings and Zoutevis, the South African-Dutch cook, regularly has to put out fires in the kitchen.
Uncle Kalfie, the sidewalk farmer, and Dier the barber are regulars and are almost always there. Myburgh, the young dairy farmer, also regularly visits and flirts with anything in a dress. Lulu fancies him, but the highlight of Myburgh's life is when Vlok and Vlerkies' beautiful blonde daughter Glenda comes to visit from Klerksdorp.
At Moeggeploeg, the everyday is exceptional and the unexpected is always just around the corner. In short - if you haven't yet visited Moeggeploeg, you haven't lived yet.
The sitcom stars Ben Kruger as Vlok Vorster, Rina Nienaber as Vlerkies Vorster, Hanna Grobler as Lulu Vermaak, Leandie du Randt as Glenda Vorster, Jan Engelen as Zoutevis, Marcel van Heerden as Dier Olivier, Cobus Visser as Oom Kalfie Sonnekus and Chris van Rensburg as Myburgh Cilliers.
Moeggeploeg is produced by Rina Nienaber and executive produced by Dick Voorendyk for i'Zigi Productions; with kykNET supervising producers Janine Opperman and Marida Swanepoel. The series is directed by Bromley Cawood and the screenplay is by Rina Nienaber and Hanli Rolfes. Original music is by Junior Botha.
The series was shot on location at Santini's Dance Bar in Roodepoort, Gauteng.
