About the Show

Kingdom is a British television drama series created by Simon Wheeler and produced by Parallel Film and Television Productions and Sprout for ITV, which stars Stephen Fry as Peter Kingdom, a Norfolk-based solicitor who is coping with family, colleagues and the strange locals who come to him for legal assistance.

Season 1

The series follows Peter Kingdom, a small-town solicitor whose work revolves around cases brought by the eclectic and eccentric populace of Market Shipborough.

The series retains a largely episodic format, where self-contained plots play out before the hour concludes, though a continuing storyline concerns the mysterious disappearance of Simon Kingdom, Peter's brother.

The first episode reveals that he vanished at sea six months previously and that everybody who knew him (including Peter) assumed that he committed suicide.

Each week there are further indications that he did not die, culminating in episode six when it is revealed that he had a relationship with a woman, and that she had become pregnant with his child after he had supposedly died.

It's all lies....

Season 2

Stephen Fry is left holding the baby in the new season of Kingdom. Fry plays affable country solicitor Peter Kingdom, whose compassion and humility have won him huge respect in the small Norfolk town of Market Shipborough.

At the end of the first season, Stephen’s character was told he was to be an uncle by a woman who arrived out of the blue.

Peter finds himself having to learn all about feeding times and changing nappies when baby Daniel, the son of Peter’s missing brother Simon, moves in.

But there’s an even bigger shock in store for Peter and his troublesome sister Beatrice, played by Hermione Norris.

Karl Davies returns as sharp trainee solicitor, Lyle Anderson, who goes beyond the call of duty, and strips off to solve the problems of a bunch of nudists.

Celia Imrie stars as Gloria Millington, the faithful receptionist. Phyllida Law plays Peter’s dotty Aunt Auriel, and Tony Slattery plays cantankerous villager Sidney Snell.

A host of prestigious guest stars join the cast for the new season, including Richard Wilson, Lucy Benjamin, Richard Briers, John Thomson, and Diana Quick.
