Bored to Death is an American comedy television series created by Jonathan Ames which follows the misadventures of a Brooklyn-based writer who moonlights as an unlicensed private detective.
The series aired in the USA on HBO from 20 September, 2009 to 28 November, 2011. There are 24 half-hour episodes in three seasons.
Bored to Death premiered in South Africa on DStv's Vuzu channel on Friday 15 January 2010, at 20h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 3 premiered on Vuzu on Tuesday 7 February 2012, at 22h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are eight episodes in the third and final season.
Synopsis
Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He's just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking and marijuana habit, can't write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor.
Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies — moonlighting as a private detective — because he wants to be a hero and a man of action.
