Eastern Mosaic also highlights the latest fashion trends, music, interviews and Bollywood news and Bollywood music videos are shown with a countdown of Indian music hits.
With the aim of promoting inter-cultural harmony and understanding, the programme attempts to represent the community it serves, but also to provide insight into Eastern customs, traditions, languages and lifestyle.
"The mission of Eastern Mosaic is also to profile the life of the motherland as well as the Indian diaspora in London, Trinidad, Fiji and across the globe," the executive producer of Eastern Mosaic, Saira Essa, told the Sunday Times on 11 January 2004.
"Our mission is not only to look internally into the South African Indian community. It is a central part of Eastern Mosaic's objective to act as a bridgehead to enter the homes of non-Indian South Africans."
