College student Lewis Thomas decides to drive across the country to see a female friend, Venna, who is unaware that he has a romantic interest in her.
Along the way Lewis stops to bail his brother, Fuller, out of jail. The raucous Fuller decides it would be fun to take the trip with his brother and hops on for the ride.
Along the way Fuller manages to convince Lewis to play a horrible prank using their CB radio on an unsuspecting truck driver who goes by the call sign of Rusty Nail.
When Rusty discovers he's been made a fool of he starts stalking the brothers, on a mission of revenge. The brothers realise they've played a joke on the wrong person - a psychotic killer who will stop at nothing to track them down...
